The electricity supply in the US is different
to the UK and flows at 110 to 120 volts AC. Remember to bring a travel
adapter and a voltage converter that will fit the US electrical outlets. All
US plugs have 2 flat prongs and not the three that you will probably be used
to. A good idea would be to take a battery pack and a charger for any spare
batteries to power any electrical gadgets. There aren’t many New York hotels
that provide irons or coffee makers, although if you request one at the
hotel reception, they might be able to provide one.
Many of the modern New York hotels do provide electric hairdryers in the
bathrooms and some have wall plugs capable of powering both 110- and 220-
volt electric shavers. Usually, the electrical items provided for guests are
very sparse and unless you take your own you will have to do without.
