A trip by ferry is a great experience while visiting New York and it is a
convenient way to travel. Many of the train services became disrupted after
September 11th and now many New Yorkers use the ferry as their
number one form of transport.
The Staten Island ferry, which runs from Battery Park is one of the most
popular as it is free and operates 24 hours a day. This is especially
popular with tourists as you can experience great views of the Statue of
Liberty, Ellis Island, Governors Island and lower Manhattan – all for free!
During peak times ferries leave every six minutes and roughly every ten
minutes at other times. The NY Waterway operates ferries on various routes,
including Pier A near Battery Park City and Pier 11 at the foot of Wall
Street to Newport in Jersey City.
Another popular ferry operated by NY Waterway runs from Pier 17 at the South
Street Seaport, E 34th Street or E 90th Street to the
Yankee and Shea Stadium during the baseball season. What better way of
travelling to the baseball game!

Why not escape the city for the day with one
of the various trips on offer with NY Waterway. These popular trips include
